Case Study #11: Mid-Century Renovation
Project Location
Decatur, Georgia
Project Summary
Although outside of our regular large-scale renovations, we took on a smaller project and helped an aging woman remodel her home for independent in-town living. Our internal design team took on the challenge of creating a modern look and feel, with handicapped accessibility, on a fixed budget.
Project Features
To make this single-family small brick house handicap accessible the floor plan had to be easier to navigate - doorways were made wider and the bathroom was completely updated with a walk-in shower with no ledges. The owner of the home chose not to have a ramp built at the time, but the design is such that, if needed, an outside ramp can easily be added.
The kitchen was updated with new cabinets and appliances and the original flooring was restored throughout the house.
Outside, the house was given a much needed face-lift and a back deck was built that is ready for entertaining.
